Fort Lauderdale and Orlando here I come………….

Harmony

The wait was definitely worth:

Harmony

For me it started just about 10 years ago with a trip to Fort Lauderdale and my first BMIFC convention.   Part of the convention festivities included a special performance of Harmony.   Unfortunately, for what I'm sure were very upsetting reasons, that didn't happen. 

Scores was released to include 6 songs from Harmony and the excitement continued.   

But then we learned of the heartbreak Barry and Bruce suffered when Harmony was kidnapped.   

By the time I saw Barry on Broadway at the St. James Theater in February he was performing Every Single Day again.    When he sings that song you can see his entire body and every muscle is involved.  Watching then, into spring and throughout this summer was inspiring.  Could be it was him being on Broadway that triggered the efforts to put it back up. 

I was not surprised by how beautiful the music and songs are. Nor was I surprised by the variety of musicals style...that's our Manilow.   One of the things I've always loved about his albums is the variety of style.  Loving the Manilow in the show was not a surprise but the story was told with grace and honor.   Yet Bruce found a way to weave in humor.    

I have minimal exposure to theater and musicals but a true tell to demonstrate how much I loved seeing Harmony was how motionless I remained for both shows.  Except for laughter, applause, some sniffles and standing ovations - hardly anyone even shifted.

Its wonderful.   Next stop LA.   Fingers crossed for Broadway.
